Mineshaft Coaster

Overview

What to Expect

The Mineshaft Coaster is one of Big Bear's easiest thrill activities to fit into a trip because it does not require a full-day commitment or a particular season. Located at Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, the coaster carries riders uphill before sending them down a mile-long fixed track with turns, dips, tunnels, bridges and 360-degree elements. Riders control their own speed within the system, so the experience can feel different depending on how aggressively you choose to ride.

The attraction is promoted as year-round, which makes it useful when lake recreation or ski conditions are not the focus of your trip. Weather and operating conditions can still affect availability. On busy weekends and holidays, crowds can turn a quick ride into a longer stop, especially if your group wants to add other attractions on the property.

Local Tip

Plan the whole Alpine Slide property at once. If your group wants the coaster plus go-karts or another attraction there, do them in the same visit. Big Bear traffic and parking make it inefficient to leave and come back later just because you originally thought of the coaster as a single quick ride.
