Jet skiing is one of the quickest ways to turn a Big Bear lake day into a high-energy outing, but the lake is not one unrestricted riding area. Marinas, shoreline areas and several bays have slower operating zones, while open portions of the lake are better suited to normal personal-watercraft use. Knowing where those zones are before leaving the dock makes the experience much easier.

Local Tip

Don't spend the first part of your rental figuring out the buoy system while already moving. Ask the operator to point out the slower bays and restricted areas on a lake map before you leave—the boundaries make much more sense when you know what you're looking for.
