By Discover Big Bear Lake • October 17, 2025

🍂 When Do Fall Colors Peak in Big Bear?
Fall colors in Big Bear usually peak from late September through early November, depending on elevation and weather.
- Early October: Aspen and willow trees begin turning gold near higher elevations.
- Mid to late October: Cottonwoods, oaks, and maples explode with orange and red around the lake and valleys.
- Early November: Lower elevations along Hwy 38 and Baldwin Lake hold the final color before winter.
For the brightest colors, plan visits between October 10–25 when the mix of gold, amber, and crimson is at its best.
