As the summer season comes to a close, it's time to start planning for Labor Day weekend in Big Bear Lake. On top of the everyday activities and things to do such as boating, hiking and shopping in Big Bear Lake, the town will be hosting a variety of family friendly events this Labor Day Weekend. Here's all you need to know! The most common question we get every year is whether or not there will be a fireworks show on Labor Day weekend . This year Big Bear Lake will be hosting a boat parade followed by a drone show over the lake! Read below for more information!

Labor Day Weekend Events

  • Cool Run in the Mountain (August 31, 2024) 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Located at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center, The Cool Run Car Show is a must-see event featuring a huge collection of unique and classic cars. There's also live music and plenty of vendors to explore. This show is organized by the Rodriders of Big Bear and helps raise money for local charities. The best part? It's completely free for spectators!

  • Music in the Mountains (August 31, 2024) 5:30 PM
Enjoy a live concert under the stars at the Big Bear Discovery Center. This is the last show of the year and will be headlined by Petty Party - tribute to Tom Petty. Ticket pricing starts at $39. More info can be found at the Discovery Center Event Page

  • Boat Parade of Lights (September 1, 2024) 7:30 PM - 9 PM
Enjoy the boat parade on Big Bear Lake! You can view the parade map and be sure to stay after the parade to watch the Drone Show!

  • Drone Show (September 1, 2024) 9 PM
The drone show will begin after the Boat Parade of Lights and will be launched from the Pine Knot Marina. Recommended spots to watch are Veterans Park and the Village.

  • LakeFest 2024 (August 31 - September 1, 2024)
Big Bear Lakefest is located at swim beach and is a two-day festival featuring live music, food trucks, beer garden, art exhibits, a BMX show, races (swimming, paddling, arm wrestling), and more, with free shuttles from designated parking areas. See the complete list of events .

Boating, Fishing, and Swimming in Big Bear Lake

If you want to experience the water, rent a pontoon boat, kayak, or paddleboard and explore the lake's crystal-clear waters from any of the marinas in town. You can also take a boat tour on the lake. For more information, read about activities on Big Bear Lake .
There are also several beaches around the lake, such as Swim Beach and Meadow Park Beach , where you can relax, sunbathe, and have a picnic with your family and friends.

Hiking and Walking Trails

For those who love to hike, Big Bear has a variety of trails to choose from, ranging from easy to challenging. The Pine Knot Trail, one of the most popular trails in the area, offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Other popular trails include the Castle Rock Trail , which offers a scenic vista of the lake and the San Bernardino Mountains, and the Cougar Crest Trail , which offers panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding forest. No matter which trail you choose, be prepared for breathtaking scenery and a memorable hiking experience.
