What kind of boats can you rent at Big Bear Lake?


Rent a Pontoon Boat

These spacious boats are great for families and larger groups looking for a relaxing day, cruising around the lake. Most marinas offer pontoons that seat up to 12, however you can also rent smaller ones for a cheaper rate.


Rent a Fishing Boat

If you are looking to catch some fish, you can rent a fishing boat from any of the marinas as well as purchasing a fishing license and any necessary finishing gear you need.


Rent Jet Skis

If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, consider renting a jet ski. Note that not all marinas rent jetskis.

What are the water temperatures like at Big Bear Lake?

Big Bear Lake sits at a high altitude, so temperatures can vary depending on the season. Summer highs average in the low 80s (°F), but evenings can be cool, so pack layers.


How big is Big Bear Lake?

Big Bear Lake is roughly 7 miles long and 2 miles wide, offering plenty of space for cruising and exploring.


Does Big Bear Lake get crowded?

The lake can get busy, especially on weekends and holidays. Expect more activity around the marinas and popular swimming spots. For calmer waters and fewer crowds, weekdays during spring and fall are ideal. Summer offers the warmest water temperatures but can also be the busiest time.

Where can I rent a boat on Big Bear Lake?



Big Bear Lake has a few marinas located on both the southern and northern shores of the lake. Most marinas offer a pontoon boats and fishing boats of various sizes and some offer jet-skis. Here are a list of marinas in Big Bear Lake


Pleasure Point Marina

Pleasure Point Marina is located in Metcalf Bay on the southern shore of Big Bear Lake, east of the Village. They offer pontoon boats, fishing boats and pedal boats for rent.   



Holloway's Marina & RV Park

Holloway's Marina and RV Park is located on the other side of Metcalf Bay from the Pleasure Point Marina, on the southern shore of Big Bear Lake. They offer pontoon boats and fishing boats for rent. 



Pine Knot Marina

Pine Knot Marina is located right near the Village on Pine Knot Avenue. Available for rent are pontoon boats, fishing boats and jetskis.

Renting a Boat on Big Bear Lake: FAQs and Must-Knows


Big Bear Lake offers a beautiful escape for a day of cruising, splashing, or reeling in the catch.  Whether you're planning a family outing or an adventurous day on the water, here's what you need to know about renting a boat:


Do I need to bring anything?

Life jackets are mandatory for everyone on board and are usually provided by the rental company. However, it's always a good idea to confirm beforehand.  Here are some other essentials to pack:

  • Sunscreen
  • Hats
  • Sunglasses
  • Drinks
  • Snacks
  • Layers of clothing (weather can change quickly)


Safety First!
