While Big Bear Lake may not be known for its vast array of dining options, these carefully selected spots offer more than just a meal —they provide an intimate setting and delicious cuisine that together create an unforgettable experience. Join us as we explore three cozy restaurants perfect for a romantic evening in this beautiful mountain town.

1. Peppercorn Grille: Fine Dining in the Village

Craving a romantic dinner in the mountains followed by a charming stroll? Try The Peppercorn Grille, located in Big Bear Lake's Village.


The Menu

The Peppercorn Grille is a mixture of Americana and Italian cuisines, featuring pastas, chicken dishes, steaks, lobster and seafood, and desserts. We highly recommend their signature Surf and Turf, which offers filet mignon paired with a lobster tail. Another favorite is the Lobster Ravioli, delicately bathed in a creamy tomato basil sauce. And don't forget to finish with their house-made Crème Brûlée, a delightful sweet ending to a wonderful meal.


More Than Just a Meal

At The Peppercorn Grille, you will find a dimly lit dining room with cozy booths and table cloths with candles. If you are lucky enough to get a table by the window you can watch people stroll down the village. The Village itself is a central hub in Big Bear, with shops, restaurants, coffee spots, and dessert places lining the streets. After dinner, take a leisurely stroll to explore the town. The Village often has events such as live music and in the winter months, you can cozy up next to firepits crackling along the street.


Easy Reservations

The Peppercorn Grille is one of the only restaurants in Big Bear Lake that utilizes OpenTable for an online reservations. You can check availability and make a reservation directly through Opentable or via Tripadvisor.

2. The Captain's Anchorage: Rustic Charm

For those who appreciate a bit of history with their meal, The Captains Anchorage in Moonridge is a must-visit.

The Menu

The menu features a range of seafood and steak options, all served in a rustic, cozy setting.  One of their signature offerings is the Prime Rib, a cut of beef slow-roasted and served with a choice of potato side. Seafood lovers have pleanty of options including the Lobster Tail, served with drawn butter and paired with your choice of accompaniments, including a potato side, soup, and salad. To end your meal on a sweet note, try Sinfully Rich Chocolate Cake, a three-layer fudge cake with an added scoop of ice cream.

More Than Just a Meal

Established in 1947, this historic restaurant has maintained its charm and character over the decades. Its located just off Bear Blvd as you enter Moonridge. The Captains Anchorage is not only famous for its food but also for its legendary ghost stories , adding a unique twist to your romantic night out. There are two floors for dining and a lounge/bar area with plenty of seating. Be sure to head there early or stay later for a drink in the bar.

3. The Pines Lakefront Lodge: Dining with a View

Being in Big Bear Lake, one would think that there are a variety of Lakefront restaurants to choose from, but thats far from accurate. In fact there is only one restaurant where you can see the lake while dining: The Pines Lakefront.

The Menu

The Pines Lakefront offers a diverse menu. Diners can enjoy a variety of seafood dishes, including grilled salmon, seared scallops, and shrimp scampi. The menu also features prime steaks, such as ribeye and filet mignon, alongside hearty pasta options like fettuccine Alfredo and seafood linguine. Vegetarian options are available, including fresh salads and grilled vegetable plates. For dessert, guests can choose from a selection of sweet treats, including cheesecake, and a chocolate mousse.

The Pines Lakefront is located directly on the shore of Big Bear Lake offering a dining experience like no other restaurant in town.
