What Is Big Bear Like on Easter Weekend in 2026?
This is the part most travel sites won’t tell you.
Winter 2025–2026 Weather Recap
This winter was warmer than average, with many days in the 40s and 50s. Weeks ago, Big Bear received over 3 feet of snow in a late-season storm — which made for an incredible weekend.
But temperatures quickly returned to the 50s and 60s with strong mountain sun, causing rapid melt-off.
So What Should You Expect in Early April?
Daytime Temperatures
- Likely highs in the 60s
- Possibly warmer in direct sun
- Cool evenings in the 30s–40s
The sun at 6,700 feet feels intense. If you’re sitting outside at brunch, it can feel much warmer than the forecast suggests.
Will There Be Snow on the Ground?
After a warm winter like this one, here’s what’s realistic:
- Most cabin neighborhoods will likely have little to no snow on the ground.
- Some shaded, north-facing trails may still have patchy snow.
- Melt-off can create muddy hiking conditions in forested areas.
- Snow banks may remain in parking lots or along roadsides.
If a new storm hits before Easter, conditions can change quickly — but based on this season’s pattern, widespread snow cover is unlikely.
For real-time conditions, check our current weather update page.
Will Ski Resorts Be Open on Easter?
That depends on snowpack and operations decisions.
If open:
- Runs will likely be limited.
- Coverage may be thin in spots.
- Spring skiing conditions (soft snow in afternoon) are common.
Bear Mountain is hosting Bear Break on April 4, so at least limited operations are expected there.
Always check official snow reports before planning a ski-focused trip.
Can You Go Sledding in Big Bear in April?
Natural snow sledding is unlikely unless another storm hits before Easter.
Designated snow play areas may have limited or no snow by early April in a warm year like this one.
If snow activities are your main goal, always verify current conditions before driving up.
